Visa Application Process

The Embassy of Republic of Latvia is pleased to announce the opening of their Visa Application Centre operated by VFS Global Services Private Limited in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Pune, Chennai, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Cochin, Jaipur, Gurgaon (Premium Lounge only) and Kolkata. This site provides information on procedures applicable to all country nationals who wish to apply for a Visa to travel to Latvia.

The visa applications are to be submitted at the Latvia Visa Application Centre at New Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Pune, Chennai, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Cochin, Jaipur, Gurgaon (Premium Lounge only) and Kolkata . All applications will be assessed by The Embassy of Republic of Latvia, located in New Delhi.

The VAC shall receive visa applications from residents of the Indian Union and any other country nationals.

Schengen Common Information

How to Apply

Submission of Visa application and collection of passports can be only be done by the APPLICANT.

Applicant applying for short term visa can submit their application on walk in basis.

All applicants wishing to submit the application directly to the Embassy will still be required to apply in person.

Validity of passports

The applicant shall present a valid travel document (passport) the validity of which extends at least three months beyond the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States (or, in the case of several visits, after the last intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States). It shall contain at least two blank pages and shall have been issued within the previous 10 years.

Please note that as per information received from the Indian Authorities, handwritten and not machine readable passports are no longer issued and manual changes in Indian passports are no longer permitted since 1 April 2010. The Embassy of Republic of Latvia thus does not accept:

1. Handwritten or not machine readable Indian passports issued after 01 April 2010;
2. Indian passports that contain a manual entry (observation) made after 01 April 2010 where the biographical data (including name place and date of birth and sex) of the passport holder were changed.

Processing Time

Please apply at least 2 weeks in advance and note that visa processing takes up to 10 working days. Please note that applications submitted to other VFS-offices than New Delhi will take another two days due to postal delivery.

Applicable Charges

Please note the visa fee for Latvian Visa is payable in cash or by debit/credit card.

There will be a service charge of Rs 2397/- by VFS Global (inclusive of Goods and Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%) levied per application over and above the visa fees. In case you would like your passport couriered to your specified address, you can request of this facility at the time of submitting your application. This mandatory service is available for an additional fee of Rs.551/- (inclusive of Goods and Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%). The service charge and the courier fee is payable in cash at the time of submitting your application.

Medical Insurance

All applicants while applying for a visa will be required to have overseas travel medical insurance valid for all Schengen countries. The insurance has to cover the applicant at least for 30,000 Euros or equivalent for all risks, e.g. accident, illness, medical emergency evacuation, repatriation, etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the entire duration of the trip including the date of arrival and departure and additional 15 days – “the period of grace”.

Applicants who wish to apply for a Visa, are requested to kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being incomplete or not being processed.

The Latvian Visa Application Centre would accept applications for Airport, Business, Cultural, Family & Friend Visit, Medical Treatment, Seafarer, Study & Tourist Visa categories maximum of 90 days duration, in a six months period, for submission at The Embassy of Republic of Latvia in New Delhi.
